    Hi Guys,

I recently started with fusion and list of questions growing up

    1. How you all dealing with tool lenth compensation?

For example: Mashine is G17 (after axis swap) If I set Z axis hight from part by 3D probe lets say 150mm and use tool T8 101mm lenght compensation sometimes work sometimes dont.

Prior milling I go to "teach in" and set the tool T8 M66 ( my mashine is manual tool change) but changes appare only on Y axes, for radius shift.

Touch off on the part with the tool and say thats Z0 works, but with multiple tools in use that is not a good option.

    Thanks for assistance.

As more and more smal issues coming up with this mashine, I'm starting to consider a retrofit.

But moneyvise mashine is two small for such a high investment, so ı'm doing my best according my budget and time to keep it runing.

Last week all controls stopped working, traced the problem to remote control socket. Mashine back and running with remote disconnected, so another small issue witch has to be adressed in the future 😁

    Hello Island 600C,

I would happily leave original If I could. The original servo motor from Indramat is 110V AC.

Usualy all VFD's in EU are 220V or 380V. So I decided to downgrade in order to get mashine running. At present I use mashine occasionaly and usualy simple jobs where I can program it on the spot.

A the jobs are getting more complext I need to get my PP sorted and prefairably spindle start and stop functioning from G code.

I'm learning my way threw the electric drawings, but as the begginer in this side it takes days on simple things there specialist takes minutes  So I'm not afraid to ask.

And in case someone wants a non functioning KDA 3.2 and matching spindle motor I can easily let it go. It is packed on the pallet, wayting the better times.

    Hi guys,

I have finished my spindle motor and driver downgrade from original Indramat servo to VFD and asincronous motor.

System works well, but not as I would like it to do.

If I start spindle manually by external push buttons and leave control program without ( S ---, M3) comands mashine keeps running , but if I want spindle to stat from the program, spindle starts for like 5 sec. and stops with E 93 fault.

Question is, how should I triger the backfeed to controls that spindle is running?

VFD I used has additional channels to output "spindle running" and n other signals, but how should I connect it so controller sees it?

I'm not electronically minded, but mooving there at my baby steps

    Hi Sylvian,

Eot sign is added after the transmition, must be missing during the coppy.

I use old desktop PC for prpgram transfers so should not be issues with the reansfere.

Tried it yesterday, one time it worked. chenged the name of the program and noting happening again

But I'm sure I will get there eventualy.

MAHO comunity is great, assistance is allways there.

    Thank you Marco.

I tried to use it with BTR off, but then absolutely nothing happens.

Cymco says file transfered sucessfuly, but program does not appear on the list and is not seen while "search"

I will try again this morning.

    Hello ,

First of all, Happy new year to all forum members and wisshing you all trouble free operation

I run into small issue on my mashine and it becomes more and more anoing as it was running perfect before.

PC comunication is working only one way. I can transfer data from mashine to PC with no issues, but the other way around it do not work.

I tried to transfer back the same program I just receyved from the mashine, but the best I could get is seen on the picture below.

No changes were made to the PC or mashine constants.

Here is example of test program I use for troubleshooting transfer issues.

    Hello guys,

Software transfere is finaly working. Thank you for all your adwices. I hat to connect it on the outside of mashine and it is all ok.

While connected directly to the card file transfer wasnt working. So it must be different pinout on my mashine somehow.

Continuing on Axis swap Y to Z.

I still have the issue with X axis whitch despite all my attemts still goes over 0 point and continues to the limit switch.

I tried different set ups in MC's, but no sucess. Google translations of MC desctiptions from German to English didnt help much. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

    Hello TWF,

Nice to hear that people are doing the same jobs around the world. I allso converted of my spindle drive to asynchronous motor and finaly Maho can start making my life easyer.

Only difference is run 1 man company doing simmilar jobs for marine industry and local factorys.

    Hi Marco,

I tried cable witch came with the mashine and the one I purchased on this forum.

Tryed all Com ports and USB port, with no sucess. I set parameters according the manual witch came with the cable.

Tested Boudrates from 9600 to 19200. DNC settings same as described in the manual. Changes were made on PC and accordingly in constants.

Data cable connected directly, in the cabinet.

    Software 6702.700/05.

    Hello guys,

I start thinking to swap Y and Z axis on my Maho 500E2.

At a moment I spend most time programing at the mashine, and most of the time I mess up with Y and Z axis.

For me Z is allways Up and Down and I do not want to wait till it ends up in a crash, just because one mashine in the workshop i different.

Does somebody have the instructions for this prosedure?

    Hello Guys,

I could not find CDS Lite from Heidehine, but got my hands on Cimco 7.0.

Everything is set up according to cable user manual. Including constants matching software, but system still do not work.

As example trying to transfer constant list from mashine to PC error 41 comes up.

Looks like there is no comunikation from PC side. I tryed different ports ant bitrate set ups, but no sucess.

Maybee somebody has any ideas what else I could try?

    Hello guys,

As I go threw the opperating manual I could not find specific G code for facing opperations. Like G87 for pocket milling yu can set up pocket size and cutter overlap in % at each pass.

At a moment i just go with G1 and punch each overlap manualy, but this is clearly the wrong way. I'm sure there is the easyer way around it

    Hi Guys,

As I understand main program for data transfer betwean Maho and PC is Cimco.

Are there any other options? I understand that biger workshops or factorys can pay for a license and enjoy full support, but as one man busness I cant afford that.

I tried TNC remo lateley, but it didnt comunicate with my mashine.

My mashine is only 500E, but for transpotr I removed side pannel, so lifting hole opens and run dubbled soft slingsfor lifting.

In the worst case I would run max diameter solid steel bar threw lifting hole and use soft slings from both sides. Mind you might have to spent quiet some time clearing the acces to the lifting point.

    Hi guys,

I finaly manager to fix most of the bugs at the mashine and want to start playng at it.

I still cant get threw single line of code. After referencing and zeroing at the part. I go to " teach in" and single line comands work, but if I try to write the new program lets say N 9001, nothing works. Earlier on I could start tiping sequences in after it acepted program name and using arow pointers go threw it for corrections, but now I cant go mo then first line.

    What I'm doing wrong?

    Hi PdVgA,

    Thanks for your guydance.

The Siemens site you proposed is awsom. Some time next week new motor and VFD should be comming in. If workload alows I'll be fitting it in assap. More and more jobs are piling in and CNC would take a lot of strain off for me standing at conventional mashine.

Offcorse, first I have a lot to learn operating it, but it should be way easier on running mashine

    Hello Guys,

I would like to ask opinion from this forum most experienced members.

As I have main spindle drive failed and repairs or exchange is around 2000-3000EU and in the end I'm still ending up with dated tecnoligy whitch will be getting more and more expensive and dificult to maintain in the future.

Personaly I do not trust the system witch came back from repairs and no problems were found by workshop and it still do not work.

I started looking for alternatives to keep equipment runing and ease up troubleshooting and maintenance in the future. For example new modern spindle motor and driver from Delta is around 5000-7500Eu, China alternative around 3500Eu.

Compatability with Philips 432 is a question, but as analog speed control is 0-10V and "run" comand executed at 24V switcj itshould not be a problem.

As my mashine is prety small only 500 series this investment is way too much for my budget. I decided to try another approch and downgrade my mashine just to keep it runing and start making some chips.

I think about swaping out a exixting spindle motor to 1500rpm 7.5KW WEG ac motor and VFD controll with standart encoder.

Mashine has 2 gears HIGH and LOW witch are selected according the speed by mashine PLC. Speed is still controlled threw same analog output 0-10V spindle start comand executed threw original input from existing controlls.

Question is will it work, or I'm just do not see the biger picture?

I fully understand, that some functionality will be lost and speed control wont be great, but in case of failure cpmponents from this convertion I could use in other manual mashines.

I beleve more guys are facing simmilar problems on this forum

    Thanks Rhodos,

It is time to spend more time at this mashine. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Due to high workload last few months I had only few breaf sesions on the controlls. Snge line comands worked, but I couldnt figure out what I'm doing wrong writing lets say 10 lines of code and start the program, no sucess.

    One more stupid question,

I finaly got some time to get on the mashine, but no much luck.

Program entering is going threw "free-g" window or just "teach in" and punch in the sequence?

As I only hawe basic book with function description, but no programing manuals.

    Hello everybody,

As I'm total beginner at the industrial controlls, I have to admitt that I realy strugling with Philips 432.

Dos anyone have done any videos on manual programming at the mashine? Lets say simple pckets, keyway cut out.

Because to do it everytime on PC and send it to mashine isnt normal in my understanding 😁

    Hello guys,

I have a question on how to trick Maho controller.

At a moment my KDA module is removed from the mashine for repairs. Mashine starts up runs its checks and no issues found. But if I try ti refference all axis gives alarm o E 90 or E 95.

Is there a way to run the mashine without a spindle drive, so I could learn atleast something befor spindle is back and running.

Well, supply from KDV is on.

24V Signal is comming RF os ok.

And of it dosnt turn is no voltage to indicate it 🙂

So itis time to start looking for a spare part, or even better a donor mashine in case something else goes in a puff. 😁

    Hi Marco,

I checked all wiring from and to KDA. Allso motor windings and encoder signals are all ok. Even the screen on KDA says "run" then spindle is activated, but no movment.

Few qiestions to eliminate other causes: is there a way to start spindle motor from KDA pannel itself for the test?

Second question can I run spindle motor from standart VFD drive?

    Hi Marko,

I will check the cable and connectors. In worst case scenario what would be the price for replacement unit or repairs?

    Hi Marco,

I'll check it first thing in the morning. Now I'm out of the workshop to se new customer.

Just one more question, in MC's spindle should be set to analog or other. C51 is set on 1 in my case.

    Hello Marco,

Thanks for assistance, and sorry for late repply.

    Module is a KDA.

While spindle is rotated by hand reading N change from 0 up to 32.90.

Bos 180.99 changes to 209.5 depends on rpm.

    UD 326V.

    Hi Marco,

I purchased mashine whitch was not operational.

It was at standstil for 2-3 years since one local company purchased it for a project witch they didnt even start. Previos company sold it after they last operator retired.

Accprding the sticker it was filly serviced at 2018.

Then gear mechanism is operational, PLC screen indicates 1, 11, or 1, so uotpot shoul be working.

    Hello Marco,

It is 500E2. Motor does not try to move at all.

Looks like it is not geting the signal to motor controller.

PetsonaIy consider my knowlage in electronics bare minimum, althou still manage to assemble new control cabinets and "relay logic" for my manual operated mashines.
